ROCKFORD, IL – The Blazer Foundation has announced grants totaling $58,569 in support of individuals with mental or physical disabilities around the county that will contribute to the numerous programs and services benefiting Winnebago County residents.  Grants ranging from $1,000 to $21,000 were awarded in support of various needs.      

Among the organizations granted awards at the recent board meeting include Angelic Organics Learning Center, Heartland’s ‘A Night to Remember’, Lifescape Community Services, Rockford University, and Walter Lawson Children’s Home.

Pat Shaw, Chairman of the Board stated, “The Blazer Foundation continues to honor the legacy established by Cedric Blazer.  By remembering his vision now carried on by the Foundation to ‘help others who could not help themselves’ and continuing to award grants that support this charge, we keep his legacy alive.”  

The Blazer Foundation is a private philanthropic foundation established by Cedric Blazer in 1986.  Its mission is to support local initiatives in research and development as well as programs designed to directly support those individuals with disabilities.
