ROCKFORD, IL – The Blazer Foundation Board of Directors voted to approve grants totaling $258,954 at its recent March 21 meeting.   Organizations, both large and small, received grants that will contribute to numerous projects and programs benefiting many local residents. 

A few examples of organizations that had grants awarded at the recent board meeting include Barbara Olson Center of Hope, Discovery Center, Fish-abled Foundation, Gigi’s Playhouse of Rockford, Goldie Floberg Center, Milestone, RAMP, Rockford Chariots Wheelchair Athletic Association, Rockford Park District, Rockford Rescue Mission, and Special Olympics Illinois.

The Blazer Foundation Board continues to support grants that fall in line with the Foundation’s mission, “to improve the lives of individuals with mental or physical disabilities living in Winnebago County and adjoining counties of northern Illinois.”  The Blazer Foundation strives to have a positive impact in the community for individuals with disabilities so that they can have the opportunity to live life to the best of their abilities.

The Blazer Foundation is a private philanthropic foundation established by Cedric Blazer in 1986.  Its mission is to support local initiatives in research and development as well as programs designed to directly support those individuals with disabilities.
