ROCKFORD, IL – The Blazer Foundation Board met recently and approved grants totaling more than $144,000 to local organizations of the Rockford, Illinois region.  The organizations receiving grants included Discovery Center Museum, Gigi’s Playhouse Rockford, Lifescape Community Services, Milestone Dental Clinic, RAMP, and YMCA of the Rock River Valley.

The Blazer Foundation Board continues to carry forth founder Cedric Blazer’s goal to use the Foundation to help others who could not help themselves.  He wanted to level the playing field so all people have the opportunity to live life to the best of their abilities, and that remains the focus of the Foundation to this day.

The Blazer Foundation is a private philanthropic foundation established by Cedric Blazer in 1986.  Its mission is to support local initiatives in research and development as well as programs designed to directly support those individuals with disabilities.
