ROCKFORD, IL – The Blazer Foundation Board of Directors approved grants for the 2015 year totaling over $930,000 to agencies in the Rockford, Illinois region.  Some of the organizations receiving grants include the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Rockford Park District, Intersect for Ability, RAMP, YMCA of Rock River Valley, Barbara Olson Center of Hope, Discovery Center, Goldie Floberg Center, Milestone, Walter Lawson Children’s Home, Gigi’s Playhouse, and Salvation Army.

Mark Blazer, Foundation Director and son of the Foundation’s founder, Cedric Blazer had this to say. “The Blazer Foundation continues to seek ways to maximize its support of individuals with disabilities while continuously challenging organizations to explore more funding options in the effort to make their programs more efficient and self-sustaining.  The Foundation is also encouraging organizations to partner together and to leverage their collective resources which would ultimately generate more funding solutions and lead to better care and advocacy for the disabled community.” 

The Blazer Foundation is a private philanthropic foundation established by Cedric Blazer in 1986.  Its mission is to support local initiatives in research and development as well as programs designed to directly support those individuals with disabilities.
